Possible plot hole?
Mowgli was seen speaking normally to his father as a child. When he grows up, he struggles to speak. Is this a sideeffect of growing up with animals and developing a mute tongue? Or is this an goof?
shareI think we're meant to believe that Mowgli was speaking Hindi with his father as a child or some provincial dialect even though the filmmakers showed them speaking English for the sake of convenience. He probably never knew English as a child - it's no accident that he couldn't communicate with Kitty in those early scenes. The idea is that Mowgli forgot how to speak his native tongue during all of those years in the jungle and was taught English for the first time by the Doctor and Miss Brydon.
If I could drop dead right now, I'd be the happiest man alive.
