A word about enjoying this movie...

When I first saw this movie, I was kind of high... and I think that made it so much better. The people I watched it with were sober and afterwards merely said it was "alright."
I think it's hard for some people to enjoy the overall craziness of the film which might be to blame for its relatively poor reception.
I'm not advocating marijuana use, but this is one of "those" movies.
Come to think of it, I've been high during a lot of Coen brothers movies...

I've been sober every single time I've ever watched this movie and I think it only gets better with each viewing

and the lovely tune/theme song that plays throughout is just spine-tingling. really adds to the scenes.

It's as simple as some people getting the joke and others not. If you don't get that all the characters and setting is supposed to be campy I could understand why you might not like the movie. But I don't really get how you could miss that it was intentionally silly.
