Dawson - what was his deal?

Whose side was he on? First he rats them out to Tony, saying he was a Chipmunk last year. Then he plays a part in getting the kids food. Then he's partying with the rest and ganging up on Lars? He was just all over the place.

Never really figured it out, a theory though, he rats them out, so then he can get money off of them for bringing food in since he got all their stuff confiscated. I think he played both sides and just kept his options open, he didn't want to side with Tony, but even the adults are scared of that nut.
