Heavyweights is a classic 90s movie, and it's helped in no small way by its totally bitchin' tune line-up. I've always loved how it mixes classical music with "Closer to Free", "Saturday Night", "Sexy Thing", "Love Machine", and "I Want Candy". That's great stuff right there

The middle three songs you mention SeanJoyce were all on the charts at the same time (late 1975-early 1976),coincidentally.."Saturday Night","Seyx Thing","Love Machine"(I'd forgotten about "Closer to Free" till I revisited this watching at the La Mirada, Cal Senior Center--I'd seen in it the theatres originally in 1995) and"I Want Cnady" clicked well with what they ate LOL!

Also the classical tunes "Blue Danube" (such as in the bouncing on the "Blob" scenes) by Johann Strauss, "Thieving Magpie" (used on the then current Nick classic "Ren and Stimpy" by Giovanni Rossini, the composer of "William Tell")
and film composer J.A.C.Redford's own "Heavy Weights" circus chase theme (heard, for instance, right before the Blob bouncing scene and Danube tune I mention, in the candy grabbing scene.)
