The entire school owes Monica an apology...

From the faculty who were too spineless to do an industrial strength smack down on Stacey and her peer group to the loathesome students who all needed a thorough dressing down with a collective punishment for all involved in her harassment.

But no. I know how these things works out.

Only a previously popular person gets an apology as its only bullying when an unpopular swine harasses a popular person.
When its the other way around its being 'cool'.

So because Monica was an outcast to begin with they will spin-doctor it to say it was her fault because of all kinds of trumped-up, asinine, petty things that they will hang on her.

Adults, teenagers, kids...some of them are far too stupid to be themselves at all ages, they spend their entire life trying to fit in, and it's a miserable existence as they cannot be themselves. They bully those who threaten their little world, without question, just so they feel liked and accepted.

The teacher in this film is an example of that. A grown man wanting a bunch of popular kids to like him. Wanting to be "the best" - it's absolutely pathetic.

You know I went to 8 different schools and I was bullied pretty bad at all 8. But just one handled it well along with the school principal apologizing to my parents and I. This was back in 1988 I think when I was in 7th grade. The principal rearranged my school schedule and the bullies so we wouldn't see each other at all during the school day. She told personally stood in the halls I had classes in a few times a month to make sure I was ok. As a teen I hated this because it embarrassed me but now as an adult I admire the lengths this principle too.

I know schools today take bullying seriously but back in the 80s it wasn't.

Wow! You were lucky to have such an understanding school and principal esp. back then in the 80s! I was bullied really bad in school and the school refused to get involved because we were suppose to learn to work it out. I even had a vice principal tell me that was my job at school to fit in and it was my fault I got bullied.

Well, the only way to solve this is to get on facebook and 'out' the school and vice principal.

Sad but true. Just this morning on Facebook a mom was looking for other parents to join her in confronting the school. Her daughter is 6 and when her or other kids report bullying they are called tattle tales. It was heartbreaking reading what her daughter has gone through.

All the more reasons to attack them on facebook. Good luck and sorry you had to experience what you experienced. I attended a school called Crest High School that is located in Shelby, NC in the early 90s and it had the sort of environment that was quite typical of the early to mid 90s (rednecky combined with preppy 90210 groups). Having extremely toxic parents didn't help either.

They suspected Monica because she kind of did threaten Stacy and say " I could kill you" when she caught her reading her diary out loud at the ski trip . She didn't mean it literally of course, but that fact that she said it in front of the girls, and was always talking back to Stacy angrily ..whenever she was being bullied, was mainly why they suspected her.
Nobody suspected Angela at first since she always came off as so sweet and innocent.
However, I agree the school defiantly did owe Monica an apology, especially since she had a alibi as Jamie pointed out, but they just kept pushing and pushing.
