Regarding the dog...
It just crossed me that the dog can be used as a metaphor for Fresh's situation. They are, following the death of Chuckie, both turned stray and left to their own devices in a dog-eat-dog world. A harsh life and death is inevitable in such an environment; Fresh is aware of this, thus he puts the dog down. Facing the dog's corpse, he's overwhelmed with a feeling of uncertainty and loss of hope, and he's left with a question, if his fate will be different. Thoughts?
