Freshs' father thought winning two bets at chess before fresh was late to their meeting made him two dollars poorer. Theres not alot of emphasis on what his logic was, had he not done that would he have been two dollars richer by "saving" his time? Its understood that he meant time is not money, but was his time or energy that valuable? After all, he was living in a trailer under a bridge so it looked like he didnt have a whole lot to lose and didnt care to gain much else. So what was behind his reasoning?
