I just finished watching it the first time, but it amazed me how much SLJ's chess advice related to Fresh's struggles.

Right after he loses his little girlfriend, Jackson talks about guys who rely on and protect their queen too much, and that's how they get beat. AKA If you want to be the man, don't fall in love--that's how they could hurt you.

In the same scene, Jackson says yea you like your knight and his moves(Chuckie) and you want to protect him, but you gotta use him to get to my king, like any other piece.

So did Fresh use Chuckie? He knew Chuckie would mouth off to everyone and Corky would then come after them. Hence why he switched the drugs--he knew Corky was going to mug him. So did he sacrifice his friend to get the King? Only problem is it makes Fresh less likable but all the more impressive.

Yeah fresh specifically told that idiot to just drop the bag and run because he knew Corkys boys were coming. He didnt plan on Chuck E getting killed.

Yes, Chuckie is the Knight - the White Knight (Esteban's side).
Fresh did use him and when he was mouthing off, he made no attempt to shut him up. However,he did not plan for him to die. The night Corky's men were coming, Fresh warned Chuckie.

As others have said, he did use Chucky as part of his plan. He knew that Chucky would act the fool and brag about it. This is why Fresh gave Chucky the wrong information. He did try to convince Chucky to run with him even before the car pulled up. He just didn't expect Chucky to be that stupid. I also think the Queen was his sister. He was willing to use her even though the end game was to save her. He put her at risk by lying about where she was, as well as telling that guy about her boyfriend.

Damn I didn't realise this, I got how he used chess tactics to get the guys in his way offed but I didn't think of it as he was using Chuckie as one of the pieces to do it. I thought it was just so that he wouldn't take the dog to anymore dogfights. Will try to remember that next time I watch it.

Like others said I don't think he'd sacrifice him though but that he just didn't listen and did what was told.
