Time line

How long is it from the first wedding to the last?

reply

The second wedding is three months after the first. The wedding invitation arrives a month later.Carrie's wedding is a month after that.Charles's wedding is 10 months later.

I am sure that is what we were told in the movie, and I looked it up in the transcript. But I think we both missed a great opportunity here. Bye. Three months later Oh, fûck! Fûck!Morning, Charles. Breakfast's up. One month later What are you up to today? You're lovely. One month later It was ordained for lifelong faithful relationships and conjugal love. Please tell me if I missed something.

I think the babies are twins. At the :17 mark in this clip, they are in matching bonnets and seem to be about the same size. Indeterminate age, but potentially conceived very soon after Laura and Angus's wedding, which had occurred 15 months earlier.

Yes. Quite likely even within hours of the first wedding ceremony.Others have pointed out that three months to get a venue and plan a wedding like that is very short. They probably had an incentive to get married that quickly.

Laura and Angus's was the first wedding. The three-month time lapse applied to Bernard and Lydia, the second marriage.

Yes. That is what the transcript shows.Carrie leaves the morning after the first wedding. Three months later. Charles realizes that he is late for the second wedding.Did something that I said give you a different impression?

My message was about the time lapse between Laura and Angus's wedding and the would-be wedding of Charles and Henrietta, at which L and A show up with what appears to be a set of twins around the age of 6 months. This ties in with the 15 months differential between THESE two weddings. The 3-month lapse between L&A's wedding and L&B's wedding doesn't enter into it. :-)

Okay, but it does enable us to calculate the total time was 15 months.People have suggested that three months is too little time to plan an elaborate wedding unless you have to, and therefore Lidia probably got pregnant at the first wedding or shortly thereafter.I still do not understand what I said that you were responding to.

I'm not talking about Lydia. I'm talking about Laura, and so was the poster to whom I replied.

The fact that Lydia's wedding was hastily arranged (as was Carrie's for that matter) is irrelevant to Laura's children, whom we see at Charles's would-be wedding. That's all. :-)

That poster wrote
Are you sure? I seem to recall Angus and Laura (the first couple) turning up to the funeral with small babies in tow.
And that clearly has the wrong wedding.

I understand now.I have a vague memory that there is reason to believe that Lydia was a couple of months gone when she married. Am I misremembering?I did not watch the clip, and
but potentially conceived very soon after Laura and Angus's wedding, which had occurred 15 months earlier.
would, I believe, apply to either Laura or Lydia, and I got stuck on Lydia.

Except that Lydia is not shown to have children in the movie, while Laura is. :-) At any rate, the opener poster's question has been answered, so I think we can lay this to rest, along with Gareth. ;-)
