Is this weird? Did anyone else feel the same?

Okay I just watched this remarkable movie and during the first half I thought "this is the most messed up movie I've ever seen" (I'm not one for horror but still I knew it was pushing limits hard) and each scary scene seemingly got worse and worse and the dead cat puppet part will probably scar me for life but at the end **SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT** it has a near enough happy ending so basically all the horror from the previous material just vaporised and I thought "this is actually a pretty good movie and I'm glad I saw it to the end" it was most likely just the fact that a happy ending cleared away all the darkness before for me and just cheered me up kinda I dunno just wondering about my own emotions how a movie that is so horrifying to me turns out to be one I'm GLAD I WATCHED =/ did anyone else experience that? or know what I mean?
the following days I was still haunted by the sex and the horror scenes and some I just cannot watch again so I don't know whether I like this movie or not :)

Besides liking it, all i could really think is that 'germans are wierd.'

It's a wierd movie, especially for an animation, but my opinion is partly formed of too much growing up with disney.

The Secret of NIMH is probably the least disney animation i watched as a kid, until anime became famous. Then there was stuff like Akira and Green Legends Ran.

I do thing that it is a really good story, that could use just a bit of fleshing out. it seemed to go a little too fast.
