“Nobody gives two focks for Bela!”

Haha...my favorite line from the whole film.

And it’s so apropos within the context of the film’s portrayal of Bela Lugosi, and Lugosi’s later disenfranchisement from mainstream Hollywood, and also, sadly, the apparent disregard for Landau’s performance on these boards.

Everyone seems so caught up with Depp’s performance, and Burton’s direction etc...(which is fine of course) but I didn’t see many threads about Landau’s Oscar winning performance—as far as I’m he absolutely KILLED IT!

He was funny, frightening, and touching in his portrayal of Lugosi, and his Oscar was well deserved. Each and every time I watch this film I discover some new little facet of it, (and Landau’s performance) that I appreciate and admire.

Agreed, one of best performances of all time. Its probably the most complete acting performance ever too, I mean its got everything in it, comedy, tragedy, transformation.

My favorite line too. Martin Landau is one of the best actors in the world and his performance was evidence of that.

Martin Landau is a class act and the rest of the cast must have been treated to a master class while this film was being made. I love this movie!

I can't believe it was Martin Landau. The first time, I saw the film, I didn't enjoy it that much because I kept getting interested in seeing the guy who beat Sam for the Oscar, I kept wondering.
The next time I saw the movie, you can't imagine how much I loved both the movie, and Mr. Landau's performance, he really makes me laugh. Here some line:
- "Let's shoot this *beep*
- "PULL THE STRING !!"
- I loved his reaction, when he heard Ed talking on the phone saying "Get me all the transvestites"
- I just couldn't stop laughing when he tried to make the octopus move, and he was screaming.
- When Bela was in rehab, and he talked to Eddie about his comeback after getting out of rehab. And he suddenly burst coughing. Man that was original!!!

Mr. Landau is a genius for pulling such a performance at the age of 66. He will always be remembered for this.
