transsexual? I thought he was making it up for a chance to direct a movie when he told that producer guy at the beginning of the movie that he liked to dress in women's clothes.

Ed was not gay or wishes he was a woman with breasts and a vagina - He was all man, he just love to wear woman clothing, it made him feel closer of touching an actual woman. (Weirdly he had Dolores or Kathy but I guess it was not enough)

It's like a girl wearing her boyfriend shirt in his absence at night - It doesn't mean she wants to be a man...

NO!! He was NOT a 'transsexual'. He was a TRANSVESTITE. A transvestite is a man who gets aroused putting on women's clothes. And MOST transvestites (like Ed Wood) are HETEROSEXUALS who should NOT be in the ladies room!!!

Some transgenders are like that. They're called autogynephiles. People have often accused Caitlyn Jenner of being that way, even though I don't think she has ever admitted to it. But someone who lived for years as a heterosexual male, masturbates while wearing drag, then comes out later in life and transitions to female.
