With all the money they spent on candles, they could have paid the bill

There were doezens and dozens of candles everywhere in the Carmichael house after the electricity got turned off.
The candles probably cost more than the bill.
Ridiculous movie all around.

seems to me that you are shopping for candles at all the wrong places. big family remember?

Why ridiculous??? Because it's so real?!?! What is your definition of ridiculous?? Masterpiece?

I'd like to know how you can call this movie ridiculous. This actually was how people lived in the 70s. Unless, you think life is ridiculous I don't know how you came up with that. Also, I believe candles are a lot cheaper than paying an electric bill. Even in that day. Crooklyn is a classic movie and it is one of the few movies that I can actually watch time and time again. I have to give all the actors in this movie their props. Great movie!!!!

I felt like they already had those candles in the house. Woody indicated that this was not the first time the electric had been disconnected. I love the movie at any rate. It's one of my all time favorites.

The movie is ridiculous? PLEASE! What in the world were you watching? Considering it was the 70's I don't think candles back then would have cost more than an electric bill.

man the title of the thread was funny, but hey...

"you must be shopping for candles at the wrong places"...

even funnier, and now, accurate. they could've borrowed some of the candles or they already had'em in the house. I also thought that there were too many candles in that scene, but man, this is just a movie. a great one, not ridiculous whatsoever.

they could've borrowed candles from neighbors and friends. i doubt they just went to a store and bought up a ton of candles.
