this is pure speculation based in some fact.

in the new George Lopez HBO special he speaks on the phrase as if it means homosexual (derrogatorily, mind you) which makes perfect sense in the scene since it's RuPaul.

the Latino dance partner says something about RuPaul being a puta.

secondly if you notice the blacks say punta, nice touch Spike, showing that the family is mispronouncing the Latino term, but prolly in the accepted black mis-pronounciation.

on the other hand, the first time i heard the term, it was 7 years ago and two Mexican co-workers (girls) were talking in Spanish and i heard what i thought for years was punta, til i saw the George Lopez special.

so Spike was showing us yet another slice-of-life. the true word from the Latino dance partner (puta), the misinterpretation by RuPaul (pooter), and the black pronounciation (punta, intentional or unintentional...cause as you know...sometimes even if WE know the correct pronounciation, we just gon' say it how we want to anyway : )[for example ho'. it's the generally accepted pronounciation, nowdays, but back in the early 70's only blacks pronounced it "hoe", and even some blacks would tell you "It's WHORE")].
