Very Curious...Mrs. Carmichael forshadowed her fate?

When the mom is in the hospital and Troy is standing by her bedside...to some extent the mom pauses abruptly and says, "Mike go get the car I'm ready to go home." Troy asks her mom if she's really coming home and the mom says yes (but we know she never made it back to the house). The dad then sends the Troy away and kisses his wife.

So I guess my question is...Did she really mean she was ready to go back to her house or she foreshadowed her fate? What was the importance of this part of the scene??? Or what do you interpret it to be?

Yeah, and then he gives that long kiss before leaving, you can pretty much tell that he knows she's gonna die.
