No, no, no! They were "huffers," or glue sniffers. VERY popular, cheap way of getting high. You could buy model or airplane glue in virtually any hardware or toy store. Squeeze the contents a little at a time into a brown paper bag and pass the bag around, each person breathing in deeply. Some used paint thinner, whaich produced more dangerous fumes. But prolonged huffing could lead to brain damage.
