No joke - I think this is one of the funniest films ever made

It's one of the cleverest, most subversive films ever made. I'm not sure all of its humor is intentional, or that the filmmakers even knew quite what they were doing, but the film is absolutely brilliant. There's something not altogether right about this film - there's something very, very wrong with it - but that is part of why it's so great. The performances are terrific - Grodin's best role and Short is so creepy and over-the-top that if the film hadn't been marketed as a family comedy, perhaps he would have received more recognition.

That's the film's ultimate problem - it ISN'T a family film, and I don't think a picture like this could be made nowadays. I'm assuming the crew was on drugs, but whatever the reason - this film is brilliant.

I've always thought this was pretty funny and entertaining. Some very memorable lines.

I argee, it IS one of the funniest and most clever films ever...

And to see it rated so low here does not surprise me one bit. It is a true "cult comedy". :)

I have always loved this movie! When Clifford replaces Uncle Martin's Chapstick with lipstick, everyone at the table laughs and Grodin's unknowing lipsticked smile as he looks around the table is priceless! I recently let my 8 year old granddaughter watch it and of course she loved it! I give it a ten cause it's made me laugh for over 20 years!
