No joke - I think this is one of the funniest films ever made

It's one of the cleverest, most subversive films ever made. I'm not sure all of its humor is intentional, or that the filmmakers even knew quite what they were doing, but the film is absolutely brilliant. There's something not altogether right about this film - there's something very, very wrong with it - but that is part of why it's so great. The performances are terrific - Grodin's best role and Short is so creepy and over-the-top that if the film hadn't been marketed as a family comedy, perhaps he would have received more recognition.

That's the film's ultimate problem - it ISN'T a family film, and I don't think a picture like this could be made nowadays. I'm assuming the crew was on drugs, but whatever the reason - this film is brilliant.

About 10 years ago I broke my foot and was a waitress, so I was just laid up for a few weeks with the cast on. I mostly just crashed at my boyfriend's apartment and took painkillers while he went to work. This movie was in the vcr, which I could easily reach with my good foot's toe (from the bed) to hit play without getting up, and there was no cable in his room.
I am not lying when I say I likely watched this movie like 7-8 times in one day on at least 2 occasions. And cracked up like a maniac every time.
I just purchased it online and cannot wait for its arrival. Tee hee!!

I loved it...things aren't as funny get to their arrival at Dinosaur world as it was eariler on but this film was really funny and it worthy of far more praise then it gets.

I agree. Martin Short is consistently underrated as a comedian. This movie is hilarious.

I love this movie as well, a hilarious cult classic, in my opinion.

This truly needs a Widescreen Special Edition dvd right away!

i completely agree. i had never even heard of it and my younger sisters rented it once and it is seriously one of the funniest movies ever. oh man.

I'm a HUGE film buff, but I've never watched any film as often as I have this one.

Absolutely. The scene where Uncle Martin tries to make Clifford get serious and look like a "human boy" makes me laugh until I cry!
