shareI think that it would be easier to tell someone that you don't know. Well like you know like if you had something like that happen to you..first of all I would be afraid of getting in trouble for smoking in the woods and then not leaving when I saw a mysterious car appear. I don't know, I guess it sort of makes sense if you think about it.
shareBecause his mother didn't seem to care a whole lot as to what was going on in her children's lives. She seemed pretty distracted not to mention being under constant strain trying to make a living as a single mom of two. I think Susan's character really connected with Mark, she really plugged in. So much so that Mark's mother got jealously enraged.
shareMark's primary motivation above all things seems to be protecting his mother and brother. Grisham has written him as a very bright boy. Just as he took the Fifth on the witness stand, he probably wouldn't tell his mother because it might put her in danger.
I just re-watched this movie last night for the first time in almost 10 years, and I'm still amazed at Brad Renfro's performance. The producers' decision to cast a local actor for the role of Mark really paid off. I'm a native Tennessean myself, and Renfro's natural accent (as opposed to a forced or learned one) made the character much more believeable than he might have been.
I totally agree with you,I think Brad really fits in that character, and he is very talented boy....,he gives the movie that something that made it so great!
shareWhen they're in trouble, Kids tell things to people other than their parents all the time. Why? Because they're Kids that don't want to get in trouble from their parents.
