In the scene in the diner, Reggie Love negotiates with Roy by witholding the location of the body. However, the previous night, the police responded to the alarm from the boathouse where the body was partially visible. This was the body of a Senator- this would have been all over the news by the next morning.

"Then again, John Grisham." What does that mean?? In the book, the body is buried in cement under the boat in the boathouse. It wouldn't have even been visible.
sharewhen 'uncle johnny' & muldanno were talking, muldanno said something like, "where the body is, i cant get it rite now. the cops are swarming that place. but dont worry, they wont find it." so the cops were checking romey's house, they just hid the body really well.
