Liked the movie, but . . .

It is about 400 miles from New Orleans to Memphis. Suicidal attorney needs to drive that far to kill himself? Why not in the damned boat house where the body lies, much more likely. When a story starts with an absurdity it takes a damned fine story to make up for it, this one just didn't quite do it.

I actually liked most of the acting (Tommy Lee Jones parts were all over the top but fun) and the police sergeant - what a jerk but from the kid's perspective probably about what one would expect.

Bradly Whitford, I didn't even recognize.

The guy who played the investigator with the razor tattoo on the hand was really good, reminded me of Sean Penn.

Oh well, it was a good diversion even if not a keeper.

If yo listened to what Romey said, you would understand. He said he grew up there and played in those woods...

He said in the movie that he drove all that way just to hear the birds in those woods. He was returning to a happier time from his childhood. Who knows why people do half the stuff they do before they kill themselves, driving 400 miles to his "happy place" didn't seem strange or out of the ordinary to me.
