be so fearsome...

I'm not sure I buy it. Greaseballs are scum but not so fearsome.

Perhaps your opinion would change if one was actively plotting to kill you right now. Mark and Romey had specific reasons to be afraid of this particular mobster, given that he very much wanted both of them dead to prevent them from revealing what they knew about the location of the senator's body. Why is it so hard to buy that people would be afraid of someone who has no reservations about killing them?
