'Southern Accents'
Are they really that bad? As an Englishman, I really cannot tell if/why they are bad. Seem okay to me.

shareThey're not bad, but they're not authentic. Half the actors are from the South, which is good, but they're not the right accents. Example: Tommy Lee Jones is doing his own native Texan accent, but his character is from Louisiana, so he would have a different accent. But I'm from the South, too, and I say they're not bad.
shareThe leads were good, several of the supporters were not so good. Anthony Edwards was the worst.
shareRenfro and Sarandon were good. Everyone else over did it. Hollywood does this. They hire "dialect coaches" to "teach" actors to talk in Southern accents, even the actors are already from the South. Tommy Lee Jones already had a Southern accent yet he put on a fake overdone Lousiana accent for this movie that is hard to listen to.
