why was map in the hat? SPOILER ALERT!
If the maps were part of the 'theme ride' and did not point to any real treasure at all, why was one copy sewn into the hat? It wasn't that valuable.

shareBecause the map wasn't originally part of the theme ride. From what I read into it (and could be wrong)...
- Most of the map was in Curly's hat
- The rest of it was in Duke's
- The map was genuine, but split in two. Put together, they led to the actual treasure. The theme ride was an after-thought

- With the two parts of the map combined, the treasure could be found, and was
- Curly probably put it back there as a keepsake or memorial to his family. It may have had sentimental value to him. It may have been with him for so long, that this was where it lived
I hope this has answered your question, but it's rather late here, so I apologise if I've misunderstoof.
