Why call it China Moon?
It's great to see Ed Harris with hair, Benicio Del Toro without beard and Lord Tywin Lannister. But what does China Moon mean? Why did they name it China Moon?

shareIt was mentioned in passing in the first canoe scene. Madeline mentions how large the moon is and Ed says his grandmother would term it a China Moon because the moon was as large as a plate of China.(porcelain)
shareThanks. I missed it. Just remember the nude scene :)
shareSo what does that have to do with the whole movie? Why name it China Moon? Why not Detective Kyle?

I Take that Back
When I saw the title China Moon, I figured it's about Bail Ling's ass, but she wasn't cast.
Then I thought, damn, everything is made in China now.
Good title, though. We are all subject to a China moon at times.
The China Moon makes you do strange things. That's the line Harris has. It explains his later behavior, which is otherwise mysterious.
shareYeah, the canoe/skinny dipping sequence under the full moon was tipping off how the otherwise normal detective Kyle was going to do some crazy things, not to mention the others.
