No Oscar Nod for Best Picture?

Now I just want to say I've never seen this film before, but I've heard about it bit and I've wondered why it didn't get nominated for Best Picture? Sure it was a box office flop, but still it was well liked by critics and won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress that year. Not to mention it got another Best Supporting Actress nod and it got nods for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay,Best Supporting Actor, Best Costume Design, and Best Art Direction.

You think that with nods for Best Director, Screenplay and 3 Acting nods this movie would be nominated, but it wasn't. And yet Four Weddings and a Funeral got nominated for Best Picture and the only other nomination it had was for Best Original Screenplay. So why wasn't it nominated?

I suspect, because the oscars back then were only 5 nominated films. They want films nominated that make money. Woody Allen films are an acquired taste. They are not for everyone. People who don't like snappy witty dialogue, and intellectual stuff wont like any Woody Allen films. I personally love woody allen films.

My top are
1.Annie Hall
2.Midnight In Paris
3.Match Point
4.Bullets Over Broadway
5.Vicky Cristina Barcelona

I concur. Absolutely the best! The great cast of this movie and the subtlety of the story, puts it at the very top of Woody Allen films for me!!

Loved this movie. One of Woody's best.

Oh. The Nod.

And it probably didn´t deserve a nomination, anyway,
