It seems like I'm the only person on Earth who doesn't love this movie. I think it would've been alot funnier if Woody was in this because John cusack is a bad impersonator. It did have some good parts, but otherwise this movies suffers. 5 out of 10 stars. Please tell me someone else hated it too.

I enjoyed the movie; it's no where as good as Annie Hall, but it does convey the best of Allen's talent. I agree, I would have liked to see Allen instead of Cusak, no one does nuerotic like allen, true? Other than that, I enjoyed the movie, because visually it was stimualting, and it had some of the most ecletic, but redeaming characters ever. The dialouge is classic, but at the same time, it does beat the horse once its dead: the last half lags.

I watched this movie yesterday on tv. It was the last movie in a Woody Allen marathon. Before it I saw Manhatten Murder Mystery and Everybody says I Love You. Some of my favourite movies are gangster movies, but this movie was my least favourite of the three. Don't get me wrong, I liked it very much. I agree, the lack of Woody in the movie was dissapointing. I think John Cusack did a good job, though. Woody wouldn't have fit in the role because the movie is about a young artist, but it would have been nice to see him in a smaller role.

Blaze, I agree Bullets is brilliant, but I recently saw Take the Money again, and thought it unwatcheable. Literally. Turned it off after about a half hour.
Not just not funny, not just dull, but moronic. And I'm being harsh on all the morons out there.
So many great Woody Allen films I'd take to the Deserted Island, but Take the Money would be my boat anchor.
I actually feel this is one of Allen's more underrated films. It's definitely one of his most continuously watchable films. Cusack aside, the performances are superb especially Weist's (which I consider one of the very best on screen). I think Cusack clearly fails at playing the "Woody" character in the film. He's just outmatched amongst this cast. But I honestly can't see Woody playing the role making the film any better.
shareI think this movie was made on the heels of Allen's big sex scandal, so he probably wanted to make a film that was pure entertainment, and NOT appear in it. Cusack's character is a young theater neophyte, so having Woody play him wouldn't make much sense. Having said this, I think it's a wonderfully entertaining gem. Sorry heffrc.
