Is Jennifer Tilly really terrible in this film like one of the reviews say?

like one review says? perhaps if thats how you feel about her character, i thought she did great playing a bad annoying actress who was a moll. i think its her best performance

shareThis movie turned me against Jennifer Tilly. She was supposed to annoying and self centered brat and she definitely delivered on that, in spades. But her voice was so grating and so hard to take that she should either have had less screen time or they should have bumped her off earlier - something! It was too much of a bad thing. I got the point that she was completely talentless and an insufferable b*tch after seeing her onscreen for a minute.
I have not seen much else of her work, but I did catch the taped performance of The Women in which she played Crystal Allen, a part that was great for Joan Crawford. Again, that annoying Tilly voice and acting ruined that part for me too.
I guess I'm really not a fan of hers. I thought she was by far the biggest problem and the most flawed performance in Bullets Over Broadway.
Tilly's downright irritating in this movie. She did a great job in acting out the part of the whiny brat.
If you found Jennifer Tilly to be annoying, irritating, and self-centered, then she accomplished what she set out to do. I agree that you can't play a bad actress flawlessly, but Tilly came pretty close.

Seeing as she was nominated for an Oscar for her performance I'd say one critics bad review isn't worth diddly. She was great.
She was AMAZING in it. Best person in the movie including Diane Wiest who won an Oscar. Sure she is very annoying but the character is supposed to be. Tilly played her perfect.

I have never been a big fan of Jennifer Tilly because I can't stand her voice, but in this film it worked magic! She was absolutely hilarious, and yes, she played the role to perfection. One of the funnies films I've seen in a long time.
