What are currently your 3 personal favorite Woody Allen films and why?

What are currently your 3 (or even 4 or 5 fave picks, if 3 makes it too difficult) personal favorite Woody Allen films made and released so far and please say why (for either the writing, the acting and casting, the direction, or a combo of all of these factors) for each film named.

Kelly, I think the reason you haven't received responses since posing this question since March 9th, is that it's JUST TOO HARD for we Allen fans to pick just 3, 4 or 5.

My feeling is that each one of them (even some of the really offbeat entries), are little gems which will all be revered and discussed long after Allen and each of us living today are long dead. Few of the acknowledged great writer-directors have been so prolific and difficult to classify. Truly, Woody Allen is his own brand...BEYOND category. No 2 films are the same and every time some idiotic critic thinks he's passe or that we've seen the last of his great work, he soon proves them wrong.

easy- Deconstructing Harry, Crimes and Misdemeaners, Bullets Over Broadway -too much to discuss as far why

Annie Hall - because the dialogue and the acting is amazing, the love story is great and it is just such an enjoyable film
Midnight In Paris - Great story, Owen Wilson was amazing, the acting was top notch, the setting was amazing in Paris. I just loved every minute
Match Point - great interesting and witty story, great acting, the sets of London were great and who wouldn't want to have sex with Scar Jo

I answered this question from you on the Match Point message board. Is there a Woody Allen message board? If not, maybe I'll start one... ;-)

1.) Bullets Over Broaway
2.) September
3.) Annie Hall - The reason I list it last is because this movie breaks my heart every time I watch it.

My 3 favorites (in no particular order) --

Bullets over Broadway (just plain hilarious, esp. the Helen Sinclair and Cheech charaters)

Hannah and her Sisters (subject matter and acting)

Crimes and Misdemeanors (darker subject matter and acting)

My fav-3 are:

- Annie Hall: The best romantic comedy of all time. It was shot more than 30 years ago, but I think it's still ahead of our time.

- Bullets over Broadway: I think it's his best comedy, although it's not as funny as his earlier movies. I place it ahead of them, because it's a much better movie.

- Radio Days: I just love the melancholy in this movie.
