The Wizard of Oz/Brainscan connection(SPOILERS)

Maybe I'm tripping out on something but I believe that Brainscan must have been inspired by the basic premise of The Wizard of Oz.

In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy in the beginning is shown talking to all the principal characters that are in her fantasy before she is knocked unconcious and those personas become a vital part of the fantasy. Same thing in Brainscan. Michael meets all the principals and then they all become vital characters in the video game, because of their impression in his subconcious.

This was rather a very ingenious idea and I'm sure it wasn't a rip off of Oz but rather just a homage to it or purely a coincidence but either way I love the idea and it works on so many levels, atleast for the first viewing, but because both Oz and Brainscan were also well made with great writing, music and dialogue, they sustain power to be viewed over and over again, although the bad thing about both is that a sequel could be very hard to work because if you know the secret of the premise of the film, it cannot be duplicated again and have the same success.

And Wizard of Oz was an adaptation, essentially, of Homer's Odyssey.

Shattered wake... I'd like to see your explanation for that one... because it's lost on me.

Well, it's the way it's done. I don't think it has anything to do with the Wizard of Oz. When you make a story that happens in a fantasy world in someone's mind and the characters are from the real world, you start by showing them in the real world. Why would you not do that ?
