DAMMIT! Why is there a love story???**Spoilers**

Okay, I ALMOST loved this movie. Interesting premise, I actually liked the visual style, but here are my problems with it:
~Goddamn love story....I get it, it creates emotional depth if the character is forced to kill the one he loves. That's not my problem with it; My problem is the complete cop-out that love conquers his feeling for himself. I thought that the movie would end with him killing her, yet still running out of time. Then, if they still went for the easy "dream sequence" resolution, he would have to deal with the fact that he did kill her. This leads to my second gripe...

~The dream sequence...Such a ripoff for a story that was actually pretty well done in my opinion. This means that it didn't even matter AT ALL what happened in the rest of the movie cause none of it was real. Though it was not technically a dream, but rather a game he didn't know he was still playing, the overall idea is still the same. This is an easy way to not have to tie up any loose ends or have any development based on what is taken place, because it's not real.

~The time limit...Why even HAVE a time limit and all the damn little innocuous references to "game over" if the time runs out if you are not actually going to show in any form what happens if the time runs out? This leads back to my first point, the time limit, as well as the love story, are pointless. I *beep* CHEERED when she said no at the end, but was then quickly disappointed once again when the pictures of Mike were shown in Kimberly's bedroom.

Like I said, I liked this movie, quite a bit actually (just watched it on FearNet for the first time), but there were just a few things that pissed me off about it.

P.s. Dude didn't have a warrant (or there was at least no indication that he did) when he went into Mike's house to collect a sample of the ashes. That evidence would be thrown out in court. Easy way to show that the cops are getting closer, but ultimately pointless.

Don't care what you think, but go ahead, comment and talk *beep* all you want, safe in anonymity of the internet

I just watched it for the first time since it came out on vhs but anyway I agree with you that I was really into the movie but the love story was pretty weak and the god awful ending ruined it for me.Trickster was a cool character and it had a good idea for a movie but the ending was such a copout 5/10.

The fact that you spent the time to write that indicates that you do care. That makes you a knob no matter what you type. Why talk about people hiding in the safety of the internet when you would probably get the crap kicked out of you by a good 80% of the users of this site in physical reality.

BTW, no one here needs your permission to comment or tear down your weak posts. It's a message board, dummy.

Suspend disbelief! Come on! And besides this was before the CSI days when everyone fancied themselves a part time cop

-The love story-
When the Trickster tells Michael that he is, in fact, him, he is hinting at the fact that this all happens in Michael's mind. It makes sense then that the Trickster is controlled by Michael's subconscious. Michael is then fighting with himself, which explains well the "love conquers all"-type ending. It makes sense in my mind anyway.

-The Dream Sequence-
This one really depends on your own tastes but I think the ending couldn't have been done better. Sounds cheesy or cliché maybe, but no other possible ending would have made more sense. Of course it's a bit predictable but not all movies have got to have a "twist" ending that is unpredictable and surprising. I personally think this is way better than Michael going to jail for murder or anything.

-The time limit-
The Trickster tells Michael what happens after the time limit. He won't be allowed to play the next disk, he won't erase all the clues and he will get caught. Go to jail, lose the game, wake up in the real world. I don't see how it could be anything else.

-The warrant-
It doesn't matter, it was all a dream ! :P

This is gonna sound sarcastic, but I really want to thank you for not being a dick in your explanation. Though we may disagree on some things in the movie, I respect the fact that you didn't resort to childish insults, but rather explained your point of view. Thanks :)
