Trick or Treat (1986)

Antisocial high school kid who is obsessed with 80s metal gets involved with a supernatural killer that comes out of the stereo. Its actually pretty similar in a lot of ways (its pretty different too).

Considering the ending (spoiler alert)--

I'd say you could throw "A Christmas Carol" onto that list. Anybody else notice that?

Which version of A Christmas Carol, IMDB lists Over 20? and I havn't seen a one yet lol.

i dunno, any one really. Ya know with Scrooge who gets visited by "the ghosts of christmas past" and they take him on the hellish journey and he wakes up a changed man ready to right the wrongs he's caused.

I kind of thought about it (after "waking up") with the way he tries to resolve his love for his neighbor, and grows a new appreciation for his friend, and becomes less dark and brooding.

oh yeah, I see your point now! I havn't seen a chistmas carol, but "Scrooged" with Bill Murry would fall into this category too then. I never would have connected the two. Good call artschoolsuicide.

Johnny Mnemonic (1995)

“What power should a man possess to challenge the Prince of Darkness?” - The Killing of Satan

Hard to make comparisons to other films since Brainscan is sort of in its own little universe. Not many films out there like it.

But you could put WarGames in a similar category.

I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.

Gamer.
A teenager involved, a dangerous game, and the reality-virtuality plot.
Brainscan: if you kill in the game, you kill for real.
Gamer: if you die in the game, you die for real.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
