I heard of a possible remake of this film, but can't find any information about it. The only information I have heard is that they are supposed to begin casting in 2008, and it will be a "re-imaging", like Halloween was. Anyone got any official info?
It's yet another example of the movie industry not having any fresh ideas or rejecting anything that seems like the tiniest bit of a risk. I think a remake of it is just about as tear-inducing as The Lost Boys: The Tribe coming out. Gag me. http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=24109349
You know, I adore this movie... Loved it loved it loved it... I adored Eddie, and I thought the concept of it all was so much fun.... but a remake might actually be decent to see, just because of the technology that has come out. I'd kind of like to see what they could do with it. (you know, the going into the game effects and such.)... It would be wicked if they could throw a Furlong cameo into it.
Here's a story for a sequel: the Trickster is now running a CGI-company (for that virtual element) that employs Michael & they're on a killing spree murdering good ideas just to make a few extra bucks. Leave it as it is; this movie doesn't need a sequel or remake.
Well, it would be interesting since videogames are much more mainstream now and there's much more they could do with it. But I think it may end up being to similar to Stay Alive, which was only a decent movie. If done right it could be amazing but a big part of the appeal to this movie was how it looked old..I know it's not that old..but a new one would no longer have a retro feel to it. If Igor looked real, it would be less awesome.
I agree. videogames are more mainstream now then it was back in the day. I hope they don't remake it but if they do, i hope they will change the ending.
Cant wait to be in la RIP Halloween RIP Blob (maybe?)
Well, I would enjoy a sequel, only because of a subtle fact that I don't think anyone's ever picked up on yet. Right as Michael(Furlong) starts playing the game, it says that this disc was the first of four. Now yes, through the movie, he does get the other 3 discs, but if you paid attention to the movie, at the end, he ONLY FINISHED DISC 1!!!!! So, they could exploit another 3 films!
I always took it that the Trickster in the beginning telling him that there were 4 discs total was a deception. Part of the game story is that he has to play all 4 discs to win, but in real life there was never meant to be more than the single disc.
I'm never more than a carton of baking soda away from a doomsday device.
Yeah, let's remake "The Hunger Games" and "John Carter" while we're at it. Jesus, where does it end? Movies now are just a $h1tstorm of remakes, sequels, prequels, reboots, etc...
Really tired of it. The only good thing is that I "liberate" movies from the internet, so at least I'm not out 10 bucks per movie.
