bud as family man
i thought the "nobody" line was a reference to the earlier hill movies, dubbing in this works great and sounds fun, somehow it feels off when he says "in the whole usa", i just can't get away from this feeling completely like an italian movie even though an american flag can be found hanging in town, now i don't know how much of this is american and how much is italian, all i know is i watch it every christmas as a tradition, well, i suppose it feels like a mix really. this is the only movie i can recall in which bud spencer plays a family man, that's pretty remarkable, i mean i'm sure there must be some other movie but i can't recall a single solitary one. the scene with the bear, "load that grizzly on the waggon" and the camera shot is on bud as the line is delivered. i wonder if it's part of the acting or if hill can't keep a straight face as their mother is pointing a rifle at moses to get him to join travis at the dinner table, i never noticed before she does that. how about the scene where travis (hill) masks up his mouth when he saves sam stone, then removes it but still wears the same outfit and nobody in the small town recognises him.
