i've been watching this each christmas for as long as i can remember and never before noticed the woman at one point speak in german, there is a lot of differences between the old vhs release and the dvd of this movie, even down to the title, so it might just be it wasn't featured in the vhs and that's why i missed it also cause i'm not familiar to the language, she is obviously dubbed into english just as bud who i figure speaks italian throughout, hill's voice seem original english, the dubbing is great though when they say moses has 12 hungry kids both times it sounds like they say 12 hundred kids. the lines are delivered great, like the part, hill: - "i didn't hear no rooster crowing", bud: - "yeah, i ate him.", and i find it weird how many voices in the smaller bits sound cartoonish like, but that is part of the fun and hill and spencer's contrast works so well, hill being this jolly positive guy and bud bitter as hill describes him "the big guy who's always ticked off", it seems like each christmas i watch this i appreciate the dialogue even more and still keep finding new things, that is rare in dubbed movies, another thing i didn't notice before is how much moses knows in detail about the "nuthouse" as if he clearly has personal experience of it, and one of the most outrageous bits is how moses (bud) takes great pleasure in seeing his own brother travis (hill) get hurt, at one point even leaving him helpless in the desert, still travis is humorous about it, considering this is a light hearted family friendly movie, when hill and spencer is captured by sam stone, moses (bud spencer) says regarding his brother- "why four bullets for me and just one for prince charming? let's hope they shoot you first so i can watch.", that's dark, like right out of the johnny cash tune some covering it later on wouldn't sing it and changed the line. son: - "pa says only god can create something that beautiful", daughter: - "he must think of god all the time then", son: - "no, he ain't a sissy."
