attendance

other then the the last game of the movie there is like 1000 people in the stands why couldn't they get enough people to come out to the game?

reply

because before the Angels won in 2002, not many people actually gave a sh!t.

Funny, the Angels led the AL in attendance in 1966, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986 and were second in the AL in 1979, 1980,, 1981, 1984, and 1987; all before 2002.

When the Angels had good teams, people did come out the the Big A. However, after the strike, which was not well received by many Angel fans (being mostly suburban, middle/upper middle and lower-upper class people), attendance dropped. The 1995 choke, Disney's ownership basically erasing the past history, on field performance, were all factors in a declining fanbase and it took 2002 to brink many people back and the ownership of Arturo Moreno embellished the team's fanbase.

Remember in the movie they hadn't won a game during the whole season, so people probably had no faith in the team.

Lets put a SMILE on that face!
