Outstanding Performances..
By Hugo Weaving as Tick, Terence Stamp as Bernadette, and Guy Pearce as Felicia. Beautiful scenery, excellent lip-synching especially by Pearce, and memory evoking music.
The costume design throughout the entire film was meticulous, and precious. Tim Chappell, the assistant costume designer 'sings' during the ending credits giving us a little more time to enjoy until the very last second. Speaking of costume design, this was the FIRST film ever to have won an Oscar which was not a Period-Piece, thanks to Lizzy Gardiner and Tim Chappell.
I'm biased as I'm a huge Guy Pearce fan, and how I missed this, IMO, 8/10 incomparable film, I'll never know, but putting aside my bias for the moment..Pearce was exceptional in drag; a role he made look as if he were a transgendered man.
Weaving and Stamp also looked like they were having the time of there life within their characters, and I'll look upon all three of these fine actors in films they've made since 1994 with an entirely new focus.
If this had been an American made and directed film, rather than by an Australian director, Stephan Elliot (filmed in Australia on an extremely low budget, I do believe The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert wouldn't have piqued my interest.
The film, the actors, the writing, the costumes, and the scenery outperformed any other film within the same genre, IMO. So much so, I watched it twice back-to-back.
EDIT: I laughed so hard at times while watching I had stitches in my side.
I HIGHLY Recommend The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, not only for the general public but those who's world view is 'set in a box' (no pun intended).
