Franny's baby.

Who was the father of Franny's baby? Not Stu, they weren't that close yet. Harold (YUK)?

Franny's old boyfriend? I don't get it.

No; it was not Stu nor Harold.

It was Frannie's old boyfriend, Jess. IIRC, his last name was Rider.

They didnt show him in the miniseries but in the book his name was Jessie like gary said

He only appeared in the book briefly. As an aside, while I don't agree with the low opinion of Frannie that some have stated on this board, I do think that she treated her boyfriend like crap.

reply

Jesse wouldn't even get to see his baby. That's low.

Yeah I was confused by this too. She tells Stu, and he asks if she has told Harold yet. Which makes it sound like it's Harold's. She says no, and then she and Stu are together for what seems like the first time. But then the way it's played out the rest of the time is like it is Stu's baby. So that had me thinking they had already been together and that earlier scene was just odd in making it seem like it was the first time.

The baby's father was not shown in the mini-series at all, even though Harold briefly mentioned him, and is only shown in the start of the book. I can see how this would be confusing, especially for those of who you haven't read the book.

Stu is NOT the baby's biological father.

Totally thought the baby was Stu’s. Maybe the mini-series wanted to make that the case?
