While I don't frequent these boards very often, I always enjoyed reading your posts, Gary.

You are probably one of the nicest people I've ever seen on the IMDb boards and I love your insights and thoughts on this great novel.

As do a lot of us, my friend. And while this and other boards that I frequent are for the most populated by adults, and are polite, many boards are not. In order to deal with toxic users, heavy moderation (expensive) is required. From what I understand, IMDb is not the only website doing this.

I don't blame IMDb, I blame the trolls.

I tried to find you but there are a lot of profiles with the name gary overman. Im Gissel Nogueiras. Im re reading our favourite novel, this time im taking it slow, since last time it took me only 4 days to read the whole thing, now that i know the ending im enjoying every bit a whole lot more.

Jeff, you are correct. I know I left these boards for quite a long time, but I
will miss poking my head here. This was really one of the first places I connected and could discuss elements of the miniseries with others.

Gary - while I know sometimes you and I have very opposite opinions about many aspects of the miniseries, you were always very respectful with your comments.

I was going to suggest something. I don't know how other users here feel about this, but I was thinking about creating a group within Facebook to discuss The Stand. I am sure I may not necessarily be the only one, but I think it may be nice to have a place where we can still get together to share opinions, etc. Anyone who reads this, please let me know, as we have a little under 2 weeks until this is shut down.

I'm not happy about the boards closing either. What is the point of IMDB without discussion boards? This is the go-to place to come and read others' interpretations and opinions about movies. Without them this site might as well no longer exist. You can get movie/actor information elsewhere on the internet.

I for one will not be visiting this site any longer after they close the boards. I think it's a big mistake on their part - although I don't post often I do enjoy reading others' opinions and interpretations. It's enhanced my movie and book experience throughout the years. Sure there's trolls here but they exist everywhere - it's just the nature of the internet. And they shouldn't ruin things for the rest of us; if anything they could just hire more administrators to police the boards. I'm looking for a job right now; I'd be happy to do it  .

Seriously though, I don't think they are being totally honest as to why they are closing the boards. And like I said I think IMDB is making a big mistake. I hope they change their minds at some point but who knows.

I just wish there was another site for movie/actor forums that I could find elsewhere to take this one's place.

Anyone know of one?
