Its a sequel to robocop 1 and 2 ignoring number 3, thats why the actor who played robo in this series only watched the first 2 robo movies.
share"A sequel to Robocop I, ignoring the events of Robocop II and III."
That's what makes it so good. Seriously, Robocop 2 & 3 where sh!t (well the 2nd was okay), they killed off a 12 year old & Lisa Madigan!
"And all of a sudden, this giant testacle grabs me by the neck!"

They killed of Anne Lewis in the 3rd one. Lisa Madigan was only in the TV Series.

I don't believe ROBOCOP THE SERIES is a sequel to the 1st ROBOCOP film. In the title sequence, Lisa says to Robocop "Murphy. It's you!" Just like Lewis did in the original. I think ROBOCOP THE SERIES is a restart.

The 4 Part Prime Directives ignored Part 2-3 plus the series
shareI believe it was right issues they couldn't use those characters or names but they are supposed to be the same characters I guess Lisa is supposed to be Lewis.
shareOriginally aired as a four-part series on Canada's Space cable network, Robocop: Prime Directives picks up after the events of 1993's Robocop 3 and was released straight-to-video in the U.S. as four seperate features. In the role played previously by Robert John Burke and Peter Weller, Page Fletcher dons the Robocop costume this time around. The series is set ten years after the events of the first film and finds an aging Robocop forced to deal with an evil Robocop called RoboCable, played by Maurice Dean Wint, and his own son, who is now grown and an executive at OCP. The episodes are Robocop: Prime Directives - Dark Justice, Robocop: Prime Directives - Meltdown, Robocop: Prime Directives - Resurrection, and Robocop: Prime Directives - Crash and Burn.
shareYour post had nothing at all to do with RoboCop: The Series! RPD was something altogether different!
EDIT: I should mention that RPD was more a sequel to RoboCop: The Series.

it's a sequel to Robocop 3, prove is that the 4th directive no more exists as it was deleted by Doctor Lazarus in Robo 3

No, it takes place between the first and second. If it took place after 3, the oldman and OCP wouldn't be part of the story because the oldman was gone in the third and OCP would have been taken over by a Japanese company.

Some random facts by myself:
It's supposed to take place after RoboCop 1 while simultaneously rebooting the series. They work hand in hand and often compliment each other.
RoboCop 2 and 3 do not exist in the series, and OCP is still the 4th largest corporation on Earth by the final episode, and is not purchased by Japanese conglomerate Kanemitsu Corporation.
Delta City construction has been completed as of the start of the series. William Ray Pudface Morgan might be an inspiration of "toxic guy" from RoboCop 1. The 100-story Civic Centrum, in RoboCop 2, is nonexistant in the series.
The OCP Chairman is much more light hearted and easier to negotiate with than the cruel "old man" of the movie. In RoboCop 2, the old man is wicked and seemingly evil.
ED-209 is not mentioned or portrayed in the series, which tells us the project failed shortly after RoboCop 1 and would not be effective enough to patrol the streets of Delta City.
RoboCop/Alex Murphy remembers being gunned down by Clarence Boddicker in the series, and we even see a flashback showing us this fact--obviously telling us The Series takes place after RoboCop 1, but still simultaneously being its own presence.
OCP Tower is at the heart of Delta City in the series, and the tallest structure, in RoboCop 1 OCP tower is clearly visible over Detroit, but the buildings do not look the same. It is unknown what happened to the old building or if the image we see of Robocop's cruiser heading toward the city is Old Detroit or Delta City.
Lisa Madigan is obviously supposed to be Ann Lewis. Sgt. Parks is supposed to be Sgt Reed. Metro South is Metro West. Charlie Lippencott helped design RoboCop among others, it is possible he worked under Bob Morton in the movie, but we never see him.
Critical infrastructure of Delta City, and even parts of Old Detroit are run by MetroNet, powered by Neurobrain at the heart of OCP Public Works in Delta City, the system is only completed at the start of the series, after Delta City construction is completed. Only RoboCop, Chip Chayken, Cray Mallardo, Charlie Lippencott, and the OCP Chairman are aware of the existence of Diana Powers, the person that runs MetroNet, former VP Chip Chayken's female secretary.
The population of Delta City is unknown. The location of Detroit's current skyscrapers in our reality is unknown (GM Tower, Renaissance Center), but it's possible they are situated in Old Detroit or were demolished to pave room for Delta City. Since the series was filmed in Toronto, we see various shots of Toronto's skyline but never Detroit. The CN tower can be seen in multiple episodes. It is unknown if Toronto's prominent skyline is supposed to represent a part of Delta City or Old Detroit, but when we do get a clear shot of Delta City, futuristic skyscrapers all beyond the 100 floor count are visible with OCP tower at the center.
Old Detroit is organized into various zones by OCP and the Detroit Police Department. Zone 5 for example. Patrol duty runs in parallel with the various power rationing that also goes on in old Detroit.
The Amazon War rages during the entire duration of the series, in South and Latin America, although only mentioned in one episode it is possible had this show had more than one season the situation may have escalated and OCP may have become more involved with its military and defense contracts.
I think is more of a restart , the writers of the first movie worked on the series and they wrote the pilot some of the ideas were on a script they wrote for Robocop 2. They say is supposed to be a sequel to the first movie ignoring the events of Robocop:The Animated Series(1988) , Robocop 2 (1990) and Robocop 3 (1993) kinda like Superman Returns that was a sequel to Superman:The Movie and Superman II , ignoring the events of Superman III , Supergirl and Superman IV:The Quest For Peace and maybe even Steel if you want to count that. But it really plays more like a restart it feels that way because it has continuity mistakes even when the original creators worked on it.
shareThe pilot was adapated from their script for RoboCop 2, but there didn't do anything else in the series besides that.
shareIt would be great but I wouldn't like the new cast. I really adored this one
shareI see it as a follow on from Robo 3, or at least a few years after it. This is why some of the characters are different.
Plus, I don't care if they changed the names but where meant to be the same.. I don't buy into that. A different actor with a different name IS a different character.
