I suppose the guy feels lonely after fighting crime day and night so how about a little company to spice his life, an equal that can fully understand him and a sidekick(or partner) to help him fight crime as well in other words a robo woman. Maybe a couple of more robo officers(some of them corrupt and evil) to make his life miserable and probably interesting.
No offence, but I don't think that that's a very good idea. One of the things I find that makes Murphy so unique is that he is so alone in his plight. If he had Robo-partners and Robo-enemies etc., it would just be ridiculous. RoboCable in the Prime Directives miniseries worked to a certain extent because he and Murphy were very different characters. They tried to tone down on the fact that Cable was also a RoboCop, and they preferred to focus on the character he was before he was killed like Murphy.
besides a robo-kid would be all anctsy, all "i'm never going to grow up and get laid, number whist dad hugs him, and tell him it'al be all right he has his family" crap. it's robocop not touched by an angel
Actually, the TV series had Diana, the OCP secretary that was killed by Cray Z. Malardo to use her brain power for Neurobrain in the premier episode "The Future Of Law Enforcement." Because she was able to turn the tables on Malardo, surviving to be a hologram that controls and powers Delta City, she was, kind of, Robocop's sidekick and the conscience of The Chairman. I rather thought of her as Robocop's cybernetic girl friend.
Actually, Dareseven, I agree. I always wish they'd expanded on that more. They establish in one episode a scientist can go into a virtual world and interact with her there. So why not have Robo do the same? I thought it would have been an interesting and unique way to introduce a love interest, as long as it was kept more dramatic and didn't turn all soft and 'soap'-like.
If Robo had finally started to reach the lowest points of despair, becoming almost suicidal at his lost life, she could've helped pull him up from that, and he for her, giving it a serious dramatic turn, rather than a nice and cushy easy romance.
Good point, wdlee. It's too bad this series didn't go beyond one season. They could have done so much with it. It grew on me quite a bit. And, BTW, I recall that episode where the scientist went inside the virtual world and interacted with Diana. It was Lipincott himself, the TV series cyberneticist that help to bring Robo on line. In it, he never knew that Diana was a hologram, rather, an OCP computer expert from another division. I remember Robocop asking her to "let him down gently," so as not to break his heart because he (Lipincott) was falling in love with her. In the end, after telling him she was being transferred to another division, they cyberdanced to "I only have eyes for you" in the VR, wearing a holo tuxedo and gown. Great stuff. I thought at that point that, had the series continued, we would have seen whole eps taking place in Diana's neurobrain VR. Oh, well.

You remembered more of that than me! ;-) Admittedly, having been watching Robocop the film again recently, I remembered the series, and how much I enjoyed it(Despite some major flaws), and have ordered the Box Set off amazon. Can't wait to watch them again! Should arrive tomorrow! :-D
I do think it's a shame it didn't continue. It had great potential. I think their biggest problem was going for the kid-friendly audience. I know they couldn't do the violence of the original, but it should've gone for a darker, grittier atmosphere, more along the lines of more recent series, like all the Law and Orders/CSIs/etc.
I did have thing for Andrea Roth when I was a kid, after seeing her in Robocop, though! ;-)
Robofruit, I get the distinct feeling I've just replied to one.
back to the main thread, Robo-kid, I can't see working, no reason for not having a female Robocop though, the female lead partner has always beena tough-cookie anyway, they'd both be scary with robofeatures!.
built lets not end up with a team robo (ala knight rider)!
the franchise may appear to be dead with the series 3rd film & prime directive series more or less flopping, but there's much 80's stuff coming back now (Starsky, Dukes, Dr Who, knight rider......) so who knows. now if is to be done again, can we please have the all out violence of the original movie? a new tv series would be OK, but, come on, satisfy the bloodlust!.
