Bailey's drinking in season 3?

I thought that Bailey's drinking storyline in season 3 was rather intense since I think that the cause of his alcoholism was the pressure of being a wrestler while falling behing his classes and disregarding his family for Callie seemed rather out of character for him.

It seems to me that Bailey was never much of a student in any of those years. I don't really blame wrestling for his addiction. I felt the addiction just took over, wrestling, school and his personal life went in the dumpster in no time. Callie was more or less another alcoholic, a dangerous friend to live with.

Callie wasn't an alcoholic. Yeah, she drank sometimes, but she had the power to say no, as seen in several episodes. She also seemed to be a lot more productive than Bailey. While Bailey drank, she was off doing errands and studying. We actually never really saw Callie drunk, now that I think of it. Callie encouraged Bailey's drinking, yes, but that's because she didn't really know he was an alcoholic. She wasn't aware of his binge drinking or how it was affecting his life. Plus, Bailey lied to her a lot. And she didn't know Bailey as well as his family and Sarah did (she had only known him for a few months) so she didn't find his behavior abnormal and couldn't tell when he was lying. By the time she finally realized he was an alcoholic, she didn't really know how to react. Instead of trying to help him, she scolded him because she was sick of living with him because his drinking was making him a handful and she was fed up. Then when she finally realized how serious the situation was, it was too late. Bailey had already decided that Callie wasn't there for him when he needed her.
