It's always surprising
to see how many people like this show. I don't, and I don't know why anyone would. But hey, that's ok. Freedom of choice. Carry on.

shareHear, hear!
And thank you for your open mind.
It is the funniest sitcom of all time. Each episode is packed with at least 1 (actually funny) joke every 30 seconds, often more. That is the reason.
shareI would argue Seinfeld is the funniest sitcom of all time. But there is clearly a different audience with a different sense of humor in mind for Friends.
shareI think it's because it seems fake.
Like a manufactured pop bad. I mean, even look at the cover poster. It's pretty much representative of the audience it sought at the time. It's more about style than substance.
Just as an example compare with Seinfeld - a short portly bald guy, Kramer, even Jerry. Hardly an attractive band of people strung together as eye candy. People just watched it because it was funny.
I wasn't really a fan of the show.. I think I laughed at 2 episodes: The one with Ross getting a spray on tan that went completely awry and the 2nd, when someone kept stealing Ross's Thanksgiving Sandwich and they took 2 bites and spit it out and he had a meltdown over it and I laughed.. Other than that, I enjoyed SEINFELD better
shareTo me, Seinfeld is mean-spirited and therefore not funny (except for his monologues). Whereas, despite being older than the "friends" and not being a yuppie, I found Friends to be a genuinely funny show. Just depends on one's sense of humor and general taste, I guess.
Seinfeld's standup just isn't that good I don't think.. He's coming to St.Louis in a couple of weeks with Jim Gaffigan on their Comedy Standup Tour 2023 for select cities
