Rachel's 'eye sensitivity' makes no sense

We are told that Rachel 'freaks out' even if someone else touches their eye(s), even if the eye is closed, and even more if it's her own eye(s).

Que all the banal 'eye puns'.

It would seem to make sense, as eyes are a very delicate part of the .. wait a moment, what is Rachel wearing? Is that..

.. is that make-up?

You see (no pun intended) my point, right?

How the heck does Rachel freak out if Joey touches his eyelid with his eye closed, but put on make-up that requires for her to actually touch her eyeballs through her eyelids, which should be way more freaky than watching anything Joey is doing?

HOW?!

What kind of sense does this make? I'll tell you - none.

Sometimes I wish there was ACTUAL congruency between what we're told and what we see on the screen. But there almost never is.. sigh.

Obviously, the show was playing it for laughs, but I actually know someone who is just like this. She has no problem putting eyeshadow on herself but freaks out if someone tries to do it for her. She also reacts when she sees someone putting in contact lenses which is the reason she won't get them herself.

Yeah, it's like having someone else shaving you when you're a man. I saw Sweeney Todd.

How else were they going to get Monica to roll around on the ground with her so the boys could get their jollies?
