Not As Good As It Used to Be When reviewed

I first saw this show on TV in 1998 and it struck me as the best TV show ever. But after I finally bought the DVD for Due South and watched again 9 years later, it's not so exciting anymore. I had the same feeling for 'Knight Rider',which drove me absolutely crazy when I was a kid. Does anyone have the same experience?

No love it more now then ever takes you out of yourself back to been a kid it's great.

I think it gets better each time you watch it tbh, though i think that ray mark 2 is definately far superior to the first ray though the first time through i dont know if i felt that as much as i do now with the benefit of indsight! But series 1 was jsut superb! Due south really mixes comedy with drama/action beautifully shame that paul gross went off to do canadian shakespear or w/e the hell hes doin now! He could have been a realy big actor superman etc. I hear some rumour of a duesouth movie in the works, hope its true! Though not entirely sure of paul grosses current motivations, they certainly dont lie in hollywood, But then again hte film was biggest over here in the UK aswell as canada! I definately think the shows still as good on the second and third viewings!

WAHT THE HELL WAS I SAYING! I TRIED TO DELETE THE POST BUT COULDNT! ARGH! I would just like to make it plain to everyone that the one true ray is david marcineo not the lad from liverpool! Ok? So please dont disregard everything i have said because of that typo i have corrected it! First ray rules!

reply

I have to disagree. It was my favourite show back then and after watching the DVDs, I thought it was just as good as I remembered it being - better even.

The lad from Liverpool? Who's that then? I'm guessing you mean Ray no. 2, although, according to imdb, Callum Keith Rennie was born in Sunderland, then moved to Canada. No mention of Liverpool.

I just picked up the dvd's and have spent most of the last few evenings watching until 2/3 am. I can't stop watching! I think it's gotten better with age.

I've had this experience with a few shows and moives that I used to rave how great they were but once I got around to seeing them again years later, it was like the magic was gone. tres disappointing.

I believe that is case sometimes with shows that dont age as well. Examples Dukes of Hazzard, Picket Fences and almost everything from the 80,s except Wiseguy, Crime Story and Tour of Duty. Due South however has aged well.

Due south will never age it's timeless
