Ok......I read all the post on here and I've read all the information about the series on IMDB and I have the first 3 seasons on DVD, but how many seasons actually are there. Because it's split up into 2 different things on here, Due South 1994 which lasted from 94-96 and the second part Due South 1997 which was from 1997-1999, so how many seasons are there???? If there are more than the 3, when if not already are the rest of the seasons coming out on DVD?
Im from the Uk and there was definitley 3 season of Due South, but I think where the confusion lies is that other countries split season 3 into two parts thus making it season 3 + 4.
Excuse me, General, would you care to step outside.
IMDB has 4 seasons listed. Seasons 3 and 4 are show with 13 episodes each. So check how many episodes are on your season 3 set. If you have 26 then you got them all. If you only have 13 then your missing Season 4. It depends if they split them up or not.
Can anyone link to the DVD Seasons you purchased and tell me if they are single sided or double sided cause I HATE double sided discs you have to treat them like you are difusing a nuke.
In Canada, there was 4 seasons in which the third season was split.
If you get the international version, the 4 dvd sets, it's double-sided. If you go to amazon.com or Best Buy or something in the States, there's a version that is single-sided, with three seasons (with ALL episodes), and cheaper, like $20 a box set.
I was confused about this as well! On the official BBC site, it only lists 3 seasons, but then people were talking about the 4th season! So thanks for clearing it up!
The Canadian DVDs marked "the complete 2nd season" are indeed flippers or double-sided -- so boo (these are the last 13 eps that David Marciano was in.)
The Canadian DVDs marked "the complete 3rd season" and "the final season" are single-sided but...
... Worse news: whether single or double-sided, in the high, high priced Canadian DVDs, all the discs are stupidly packaged so that half of one disc lays on top of the other disc. Or as one person so correctly put it: "A scratch waiting to happen." Which sadly happened to me and I can't buff it out.
So, grrrr.
Platinum has released some or all the seasons for a lot less money and all discs are single sided and on it's own space in the holder. However, the transfer isn't as sharp as the Canadian version -- which I can tolerate as the price was so very nice. However, there are no subtitles (which I find is needed on all TVs shows once in a while as sound recording has really gone downhill and when actors rush lines as to be indecipherable, you have no recourse. However, the Canadian subtitlers for English are very impaired and come up with very creative words for what the actors are actually saying. I mean waaaaaay off. Don't those people work from scripts??? I've never encountered another show other than the news or chat shows , which must be done instantaneously, to have so many and so many egregious errors.) The Canadian versions also have more chapters per ep so it's easier to naviage through an ep.
I hope this helps.
And I really don't understand why the Canadian versions are so high priced when there are so many cheapskate stuff mentioned above and there are no extras until "the final season" when Paul Gross does a commentary over the last 2 eps of the series.
In the UK seasons 3-4 were shown as one series (when they wern't fooking around 'cus of football or snooker)
The UK are finally releasing them all on DVD, season 1&2 are out and they arn't flippers, they have the whole first season in order (including the 2part pilot) where as the canadian version has the pilot as an extra on season 2 or 3, i cant remember which, it's stupid anyway!
Still.... this show should have got more respect on its DVD release!
I think you'll be disappointed again. AFAIK the DVD's are a region 2 version of the "expensive" region 1 set. The only commentary is on the last couple of episodes of the series. (season3)
They're interesting. A couple of Canadian interviews with both Paul and David Marciano during the filming of a S1 episode (the Christmas based one whose name currently escapes me). Plus there is Paul's appearance on Noel's House Party which is short but very sweet (Paul looks amazing in pale blue...and he's really quite funny too) and that's about it. Disappointing but interesting. I'd love to hear a commentary or two, maybe we'll get something like that on the third season DVD which is being released in September.
Hi Everyone, I'm sorry but I'm lost in total confusion :( I am in Canada and want to invest in the ocmplete series on DVD Where the heck can I get disks that are good quality, not likely to scratch, and have all the episodes... as cheaply as possible? A box set would be great, but price is the most important factor I don't want to use ebay either. HELP ME MY FRIENDS! :'( Thanks very much!
Hey try www.play.com on the top corner there is a link for the international part. go in there they have free delivery to i got mine there good luck. if you have multi region dvd player just stay in that site you open first ok.
Ummm... you paid 80$ for season 1??? Amazon.ca sells them for $25!
I guess my main problem is with the final season with RayK... I want to get season 3 and 4 in one set, but it needs to be region 1 because I'm in Canada!
