Mandy in the last season?

I watched Chicago Hope in the middle of its run when it originally aired, but I just started watching the reruns and have fallen completely in love with Mandy, and Jeffery Geiger. It broke my heart, for multiple reasons, when he left after Alan's death. I had stopped watching by 1999 and I can't wait for the least season to air! Can someone tell me: does he really come back? Or is it just a bunch of guest-starring? Please tell me he returned to the hospital!

He is a regular in the last season, though he doesn't appear in every episode. Unfortunately, that type of situation never works out well for TV series, because they have trouble explaining the absence of the character during the weeks the actor isn't there. CH was no exception. You could tell during the latter half of the season, in particular, that they were struggling to explain Jeffrey's absence, because it seems that his appearances were front loaded in the first half of the season.
