dvd release?

will CH be getting a dvd release do you think? i haven't heard anything but it seems like every show on earth is so why not a good one like CH?

reply

CH is the only DVD series I would consider buying. I bought a VHS with two episodes on it from a guy on ebay. Other than that, I miss the show, since none of the stations are airing it. I think you can go to www.tvshowondvd.com and vote for CH to be released on DVD.

reply

In Canada, Chicago Hope plays on "W Network". I watch it at 1am Mountain Time.

reply

Me too. I miss Chicago Hope, I have some episodes, but not my fav ones, the season 1 and 2 episodes

reply

I went to tvshowsondvd.com and voted for CH. I noticed that other David Kelley shows aren't available on DVD either: Ally McBeal (all seasons), Picket Fences, The Practice, L.A. Law. Is there some kind of significance to that?

reply

Yeah I was starting to think it had something to do with David E Kelley until I heard that Picket Fences is comming out in 07 so maybe he will get goeing on the other show too. I have been waiting for Ally McBeal as well. I love Chicago Hope and ended up missing the last couple of seasons because I was away at school. Make sure you vote for it on TVSHOWSONDVD.com so maybe they will get word out to D.E.Kelley and he will get the network/production company together to put it out on DVD.

reply

We can all try writing to 20th Century Fox, which owns the DVD rights to the show.

I was just thining that the other day.
They really should put it on DVD for all us poor schmucks who sometimes can't remember that it's actually on tv again.

For any Brits, Chicago Hope is on ITV3 @ 9.05 am, 3.25pm and 12.05am. Aren't we the lucky one's! Dr Schutt and Camille have broken up AGAIN and Dr Geiger has gone loopy AGAIN, so take it from there. I nearly wet myself with excitement when I found out it was being shown again, I'd been suffering from serious CH withdrawal symptons and now my life is all peaches and cream again. I love ER but CH is in a league of its own. Why haven't the fools released a DVD yet? Bloody morons....

Rock on.

When I think of all the other crap TV shows that get released on DVD, even some that never lasted more then like, two seasons...it makes me want to break things.

I agree. Half of the shows that are released on DVD are very obscure & little-known shows. "Chicago Hope" lasted 7 Seasons, had a star-studded cast AND guest cast ( i.e., Ron Silver, Chris Penn, etc. ). W/ all of the TV on DVD, "Chicago Hope" should be 1 of them !!! I know many friends that agree, as well. I mean, you can buy the entire series of "Planet of the Apes"...see the problem ?

reply

I loved reading everyones responses! CH is the only series I'd buy on DVD, I love it. It is being aired here on the East coast of the US Mon 9a on Discovery Health, thank goodness, (and @ 4a unfortunately-I wish they replace one of their MANY reality shows with Hope at a decent time). i also wish Oxygen or Lifetime would air again, I didn't catch it on those stations earlier. I have it in my scout now so that if it aired again, I'll know!

Lifetime real women aires the uncut chicicago Hope shows at 10 pm cental time I have enjoyed those more than dicovery channal thay are badly cut Chicago hope is my faverite drama next to Dr Quinn

reply

No news as to what's up with CH not being on DVD ?

There are so many weird little tv series that barely lasted a season that are on dvd, yet no Hope. If it did come out, I would buy it. Granted my sister will kill me, but it's worth the risk ;) As for the badly cut episodes on DHC , I've noticed, and I've only watched CH on this channel. It's very aggrivating knowing you missed something and you don't know what it is.

reply

It's a mystery indeed why all the, pardon my language, *beep* is available but a great great series such as CH isn't. I mean, Jeffrey Geiger is one of the greatest characters on tv, ever! Release it, you jerks....

reply

I have just e mailed fox stating how fantasic it would be to get the old show on DVD, but i expect it wont be good news, keep your fingers crossed

Chicago Hope is on the Discovery Heath Channel at 3am Central time. It used to be on at 8am central time but it's not anymore. I love the show, but staying up until 4 in the morning kinda makes me tired.

Are you sure? I'm in Pacific time (two hours behind you) and it's on at 6 AM (9 AM Easten), then that day's episode is repeated at 1 AM, which is when I usually catch it. But it's definitely on at 6 AM too (I usually fall asleep with the TV on, and when the alarm goes off at 6:30, it's on).

Here's Discovery Health's current schedule. You may need to adjust the timeframe. Note that the times are Eastern.

This weeks episodes are the first part of season three, and they do seem to be running all of them, and in order, taking a little over a month per season. I think they should be rolling over from season six back to season one sometime around mid-June. Don't hold me to that, they may pull it or move it by then.

Note the bottom part, Fox has plans to release many more in the next year or two

I absolutely love this show and haven't seen it in around three years. I knew it'd come out on DVD eventually but it's been a long wait.

So much for David E. Kelly saying he won't release them on DVD. Anyone would be dumb not to do this. I mean, it is money after all.

Another news report that goes into more detail (Chicago Hope isn't on the list):
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=5003

I saw the news of the Boston Legal DVD release and hoped it was a good sign for the release of other David Kelley shows. I didn't think that CH would have the same music rights issues that have been holding up Ally McBeal.

reply

Unfortunately David E. Kelly has vowed not to release any of his shows on DVD while they could still be making money in syndication. It is sad if you ask me because the only shows I have any interest in buying on DVD, are Chicago Hope, Boston Public, and Boston Legal.

Here's CH's page at TVShowsonDVD:

You can vote to help show that people would definitely buy it on DVD and there's a link to send a comment about the show to the appropriate studio(s) to let them know you want Chicago Hope. (If you don't see the vote button or comment link, log in or register. TVShowsonDVD does not send tons of spam or anything; all I get from them are updates on the status of shows I've selected to get updates on.)

I just saw how long ago this question was asked. But, I was looking on Amazon UK. You can pre order the series now. The US price is about $132.24. You will need a region free player though.
