Is The Wrong Trousers the new Animal Farm?

Have animation buffs realised that The Wrong Trousers is actually a well- disguised allegory and political satire on post-war Britain, the welfare state, political correctness, race and discrimination? It alludes to Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well, Hans Christian Andersen's The Emperor's New Clothes ans, Plato's The Republic and George Orwell's Animal farm. In fact, it deserves to be the new Animal Farm and should be taught in high school and at university as a superlative narrative linking art and politics. I don't think it's such a big deal. What you and the Wikipedia page are pointing out, it just seems that’s what happens when humor is handled intelligently. Not some grand allegory like Orwell's (also incredibly brilliant) "Animal Farm."

Just my opinion, I could be under-reading things.

Oh, just a side note, the 'in-jokes' section of the en.wiki page entirely leaves out the diorama of penguins with the diamond ceremonially atop a staff. Maybe you should add that...

I studied the Wrong Trousers in one of my English papers at university, but nothing like this ever came up in lectures or discussions. It's a very interesting theory, but I agree with MortimerRandolph.

Why don't you try and contact Nick Park and see what he thinks?

From memory (I stand to be corrected here) I think Gromit's book was actually titled "Pluto's Republic" - Pluto, of course, being the dog in the Walt Disney Mickey Mouse films.
