What Happened...?

I just caught the film on the Encore! Mystery channel, and fell asleep probably about thirty minutes before the film ended. I remember that John decided he would go back home and Jill wasn't happy about his decision, and that's where i fell asleep, I think. The movie was very suspenseful, loved the first twenty minutes. I'm afraid the film won't come back on again for a while, so could someone fill me in on what happened afterwards? A little overview as to who the stalker was, were the children ever found? Basically just what happened, as the part about the stalker painting himself into the wall sounds eerily frightening. Thanks ahead of time.
